End Date: 4/26/2019End Time: 1:30 PM

Event Description:
Dr. David Kirkpatrick, "Revolutionary Ferment, The Evangelical Left at the Latin American University"
Noon-1:30 pm, Holthusen Hall 403
The Office of International Education and Latin American and Latinx Studies present a talk and complementary lunch by Dr. David Kirkpatrick, James Madison University.
Abstract: During the Cold War, rather than borrowing from Catholic liberation theology, an emerging Latin American Evangelical Left found considerable inspiration from a cluster of political and social forces: rural-urban migration, the resulting complications of urbanization, and the rapid expansion of the universities, where Marxist ideas of revolutionary change were of growing appeal to students.
