Event Description:
Dr. Ned Blackhawk, professor of history and American studies at Yale University, will discuss “American Indians and the Remaking of U.S. Colonial History” during the 2018 Frank L. Klement Lecture on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 4:30 p.m., in Raynor Memorial Libraries Beaumier Suites.



Blackhawk is the author of “Violence over the Land: Indians and Empires in the early American West”, a study of the American Great Basin. The book garnered half a dozen professional prizes. In addition, Blackhawk serves in professional associations and on the editorial boards of the American Quarterly and Ethnohistory. He has also led the establishment of two fellowships.



The Frank L. Klement Lecture commemorates distinguished scholars in American history. Klement joined the Department of History at Marquette University in 1948 and retired 27 years later as professor

Emeritus.



The event is open to the public and free.
