End Date: 9/12/2017End Time: 5:15 PM

Event Description:
Edwin Shanke, World War II reporter and Marquette alumnus, will speak on campus Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the Prucha Reading Room on the third floor of Raynor Library. His talk, “Dispatches from Nazi Germany: Bringing the Edwin A. Shanke Collection to Life in Digital Format,” will focus on talk of Nazism, fake news, and propaganda that fill the headlines today. All are issues Shanke wrestled with as an AP reporter in Germany from 1937-1941. Additionally, there will be a dramatic reading of excerpts from Shanke’s letters home.
All Marquette students, faculty, and staff are invited to come and find out more about this remarkable Marquette alumnus and learn how archivists at Raynor Library have employed digital tools to make his amazing collection of papers more accessible.
The event is sponsored by Raynor Memorial Libraries’ Department of Special Collections and University Archives and the Department of History.
For questions contact Bill Fliss, library archivist, at (414) 288-5906.
